You would never know that this Philadelphia wedding was a rainy day affair. Mother Nature let up long enough for this couple to say their I-do’s in total outdoor elegance. Thank goodness because I’m 100% convinced the luscious, chandelier adorned arbor was meant. to. be. the backdrop for their super romantic first kiss. This adorable duo called in the floral experts at Robertson’s Flowers who packed a whole lot of pretty packed into every corner of their nature-inspired nuptials. Shot beautifully by Alyssa Maloof, it’s charm-central and you can see even more right here in the gallery.
From the Bride… Three years of planning for a wedding is a long time but when you are planning from across the country and a lot of your guests are coming from Australia, England, and Oregon it is almost necessary. We had a week long celebration in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania prior to the wedding which was really important to us so that everyone felt comfortable at the wedding. Once we actually got to the wedding day it felt like all of our guests had known each other forever.
The wedding took place on a very rainy September day in Philadelphia. We watched the forecast all day and felt so lucky that the rain decided to hold off for the ceremony. Once our vows were said and pictures were taken Mother Nature unleashed again.
The theme was rustic elegance. The colors were all natural colors including champagne, ivory, pewter, and grey. Living in Oregon and loving the outdoors we used a lot of bark, moss, and tree stumps for decor. We really wanted our wedding to signify us, our love, and everything that is important to us. We focused on a lot of small details making sure that the wedding felt very us and not cookie cutter. We included a lot of photos from the 10 years that we dated. Some other highlights were a photo booth, surprise mustaches for all the guests, water ice and pretzels (very Philly) and the Penn State stadium cake. The groomsmen started a surprise flashmob singing ‘You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful’ to the bride that included the groom and the fathers. The dance floor was packed all night. Such a special day!
