Ojai, California Wedding from Tec Petaja & Bash, Please

You might recognize this wedding from the latest issue of Pacific Weddings (which is gorg by the way) but one look at it and we knew we had to have more. So dream team Tec Petaja + Bash, Please graciously sent us a whole collection of new imagery and to say that we fell madly in love was putting it embarassingly mild. I even told Erin that I was getting cold feet on hitting the publish button because I just wanted to make sure I was doing the gorgeousness justice. So promise me, like pinky promise me, that you’ll spend some real honest to goodness time in the galleries, because this wedding deserves to go on and on and on…

From the Bride… When we started planning our wedding, we realized that there were a few things that were really important to us—and having our friends and family together for an entire weekend topped that list. We picked Ojai because it was a close drive from Los Angeles, but it also felt special and removed. Food was also really important to us. We really wanted our guests to enjoy the food at our wedding, and once we tasted the food from Heirloom we knew we wanted them as caterers. After two tastings, we chose a menu that included, among other things: chicken and waffles with a blueberry compote, a ceviche bar, sweet corn anglioti with truffle butter, and Spanish style churros with chocolate dipping sauce for dessert.

The photography was also really important to us, and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to have Tec be part of our special day. As the bride and groom, you end up spending a lot of time with your photographer on the day of your wedding, and Tec is just such a joy to be around. Finally, we asked the Bash Please ladies to plan our wedding because we loved their creativity and sense of style. They created an evening that was more beautiful and thoughtful than we ever could have imagined.

We started the weekend off on Friday with a casual welcome BBQ in a barn at the Ojai Valley Inn. It was great because we really got a chance to relax and spend time with our friends and family the night before the wedding. On the actual day of the wedding, it felt like we were floating. Our former roommate, who lived with us for the first two years that we dated, officiated the wedding under a shaded canopy of trees. We wrote our own vows, which was overwhelming at first, but ended up being incredibly meaningful to both of us. After the ceremony, our guests headed to cocktail hour, where we had a blue grass band playing and plenty of passed appetizers to munch on. We then had a family style dinner at long banquet tables adorned with vintage glassware and wildflowers. After dinner, we danced under the stars and enjoyed all of the delicious specialty drinks from Pharmacie (the spicy julep was the best!). We ended the night by running through a sparkler send off into a vintage car.

The day after the wedding, we had a brunch with all of the guests in the herb garden at the Ojai Valley Inn. It was just so wonderful to have everyone together for the whole weekend—we have the most wonderful memories!
