From FCN Photography… My grandmother offered us her home and I couldn’t have had a more beautiful wedding. There are even some photos we took while getting ready in my grandparents’ bedroom where it looks like robes are in some of the photos. I can’t help but feel it was my grandfather letting me know he was with me that day.
Having the wedding at my grandparents’ house meant a TON of DIY. Everything, other than the food and some additional items, was handmade by my family and all the calligraphy was done by my husband. Even the beer opening station. We took some moonshine from good old NC and it was delicious! I wish we had more to take home.
I used and old locket with pictures of my three grandparents who had passed away as my something old. It was important to me to have something with me that represented my grandfather. I know that he was present that day and watching over his family having the time of their lives. I had a ring custom made for my right hand by Elizabeth Street Jewelry in NY for my something new. A favorite part of it was the jeweler added Finn’s (my son) birthstone into the inside setting of the ring. It was my way of keeping him close to me all night. The teacups on my sign-in table that were in my parent’s wedding and my grandfather’s truck were my something borrowed. The truck is a 1929 Ford, and it’s amazing. This truck was the inspiration for my wedding.
There was just something about my daddy walking me down the aisle that, whew, made me melt! Once I was outside I was also in awe, the house was AMAZING, my wildest dreams came true. You know that Pinterest quote that says “I hope my real wedding is as good as my Pinterest wedding”? Well, my real wedding crushed my Pinterest wedding!
