Kitchener Wedding at Waterloo Region Museum from Geehae Jeong
Sometimes all you have to do is sit back, close your eyes and let the details of your wedding fall into place - right there in your imagination. Which is exactly what this beautiful Kitchener bride decided to do... and the day she envisioned? An uber-romantic, classically elegant, cream colored affair with her amazing, ever-so-dashing groom. And with the help of some oh-so-talented vendors and her dream lace gown (the first and last she tried on), she was able enjoy the best day of her life with the man she loves. From the Bride... It all started with the dress. I always knew my wedding dress would be lace. I just love the romantic look and feel of lace — it captures a timeless style. I looked at countless pictures of beautiful gowns, but there was only one that took my breath away. It was the first dress I tried on, and my search was over. With my dress as inspiration, the rest all fell into place. I wanted to keep the romantic yet timeless style throughout our wedding while keeping things clean and simple. It really wasn’t complicated once I knew my style. I could close my eyes and see cream-colored hydrangeas and peonies. I saw my bridesmaids walking down the aisle and dancing the night away in soft yet flirty dresses. The image of Omar standing in a crisp black suite gave me butterflies. With these images in mind, I slowly gathered the material and pieces that would make our wedding a reality. It didn’t hurt either when my mom gave me the clutch she used when she married my dad for me to use, and it fit right in with my dress and jewelry.
The day of the wedding went by so fast. I did my best to soak in each and every moment. Eating breakfast with my family, getting my hair done with my girls, to the moment of our first look — it was all overwhelming. It was a warm sunny day and the light filled the windows of our venue beautifully. Omar and I were married at the Waterloo Region Museum, which created an elegant backdrop for our wedding. It was the perfect mix of past and present with water mills, a steam engine train and barns just outside of a modern, light-filled museum. Before the ceremony, I got to see for the first time the beautiful decorations my friends so graciously offered to put together. The hydrangea and branch centerpieces looked simple yet elegant. The red velvet cupcakes my good friend Marianne lovingly made for us looked picture-perfect. The place cards my maid of honor, Hazel, created looked professionally made. We had a short and simple Muslim ceremony followed by a short cocktail hour where the guests got to enjoy the grounds of the museum. The rest of the night included great food and dancing, but most importantly amazing company.
Just thinking about our wedding day and looking at these lovely photos bring the biggest smile to my face. I wasn’t prepared for the amount of love I would feel on that day, and there were many moments where tears of joy did my talking for me. It’s still a surreal feeling to be married to this wonderful man who I’ve known for more than half of my life. We loved nothing more than sharing our love and celebrating with our closest family and friends.
