Delaware Rustic Chic Barbeque Wedding from Christian Oth Studio
If you told me the words 'Chic' and 'Barbeque' could live harmoniously together, I wouldn't have believed it. That is, until I laid my eyes on this picture perfect event. Sue Kessler of Christian Oth Studio has done it again. She has framed this lovely couple's relaxed but meticulously thoughtful personalities. From these captured moments, it is so clear that they wanted to focus their big day around love, some good grilling and the people that mean the most. It was torture trying to narrow down these divine photographs, see them all here in the gallery.
From the Bride... As an event designer myself, when it came to designing my own wedding all I ever wanted was simply something that feels us. Keye and I both love to entertain at home. So when we first got engaged, we were just excited to have the perfect opportunity to throw an awesome party for our dear ones. We wanted a party that is fuss free, laid-back, fun and celebrates all things we cherish.
With that idea in mind, we quickly found our venue on SMP, Greenville Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. It was love at first sight. Coming from New York city, Greenville offers everything city folks like us can only dream of - abundance of giant ancient trees on great green field and beautiful historical architecture that was once a family owned estate. We wanted the overall design stay true to the venue itself to showcase its perfectly aged charms and the beautiful natural scene. Various hues of green and brown, allied with natural and re-purposed materials including wood, burlap and linen established a rustic and pared down look. Frozen margarita in ball jars were passed during cocktail, an ode to the fun time with friends, as it's something that many of us always order at our go-to bar in west village.
While it was such a small wedding, every guest had the opportunity to give a speech when the microphone was passed around at the tables. As a true surprise it turned out, every single person did it spontaneously and those were probably some of the most genuine and heartfelt toasts I've ever heard. We received the biggest surprise gift a week after the wedding - our wedding video shot & created by a friend! Apparently the friend had planned this all along ever since he found out that we had cut back our budget on a cinematographer. If there's one best thing for me to name about planning my own wedding, that would be to realize how lucky we are to be loved and surrounded by so many incredibly wonderful souls. It was truly a celebration of family, friendship and love.
