I have to confess. I have a case of California envy. It’s weddings like this chic sunshine-filled Huntington Beach celebration that have me longing for a little trip west. I adore the couple’s elegant but totally approachable style and thanks to the pure genius of Desi Baytan Photography I can practically feel the warmth of that California sun on my face. Every image is pure beauty. Every moment is pure joy. This oceanside soiree is sure to sweep you off your feet and you can see even more reasons why right here in the gallery.
From the Bride… I’ve never been the girl who imagined a specific type of wedding, I knew generally how I wanted it to look and feel but had no idea where to start! It began with my first experience trying on wedding gowns with my bridesmaids. Again, I had no idea of what style dress I wanted so I tried on about 5 different dresses with no success. The consultant brought a lace dress that she thought I would like and I was sold! It was simple and elegant, perfect for a Summer wedding by the beach. From there, all the small details kind of fell into place (thanks to the SMP inspiration!). I envisioned a simple, classic and fun wedding. I planned the whole thing by myself with some direction from my day of coordinator, Melinda. Coming from one of the most uncreative and not girly girly women, I enjoyed the whole process. It takes much more than I thought to plan a 130 person wedding! I made sure to always keep my family and friends in mind, I had food brought in the morning of for my bridesmaids and makeup artists to munch on. I hate being hungry! I also had sandalwood fans with our logo placed on the chairs for the ceremony. We were married in August in Huntington Beach so I knew although the sun wouldn’t be at it’s peak, it would be very sunny. Finally, probably one of the most cherished times for me throughout the whole day was the tea ceremony. Traditionally, this is supposed to take place at the brides parents home in the morning, but in my case it made sense to incorporate it into the day at the venue. The tea ceremony is a way for the bride to thank her parents and family for raising her and to introduce her new husband to her parents. It is also meant to thank my husband’s family for accepting me into their family. It was all a very emotional and special. I will remember it for the rest of my life. All in all, I am so happy to be married and even more lucky that my family has grown. We are so fortunate to have each other. Thank You SMP for giving me the inspiration to plan my perfect day!
