Having a close family member in the wedding biz takes a lot of the pressure off! Not all, definitely not all, but a lot. Having someone to bounce your ideas off of, someone who can help you decide what will work, and what might not, helping you pull your vision together, that’s what a wedding planner will do. In this case, it was a true family blessing for this California couple. Working with Jessica at The Petal Company and having the lovely Lyndsay Undseth capturing the memories at this Wilson Vineyards wedding was the perfect combination of love and family – all rolled up into one beautiful celebration. From Jessica at The Petal Company… Laura, the bride, knew from the beginning that she wanted a winery venue. More specifically she wanted the venue to be Wilson Vineyards in Clarksburg. We had spent a day checking out tons of wineries in the Clarksburg area but when we got to Wilson her face just lit up. This wedding became such a labour of love! Ten months of blood, sweat, and trust. There were tons of custom/DIY details, from the photo wall to pom poms, the signs and games, to the chandeliers. We brought in all the vases, books, and decor pieces and our family had a four car caravan to the venue with all the dessert, linens and furniture rentals from the Bay Area. Both the bride and the groom (my brother in-law) were such a pleasure to work with and trusted me with my crazy ideas, at times committing blindly to decor for their big day. The day ended up coming together better than I ever envisioned… it sparkled and glowed, was warm and inviting, and screamed Robert and Laura! A true family effort. We were all so proud of what we had accomplished. The day really made the family even closer! It reminded us all that love and family is what matters most, through thick and thin, that is what is and will always be there!
From the bride… One year into dating, we walked by a jewelry shop window at the mall and I playfully pointed out the kind of ring I liked. I knew an engagement was many years away, so I was touched when I watched him study the ring, setting it into memory. Five years later on a secluded beach at sunset, Robert proposed with my dream ring, remembered from the years prior. It was a perfect proposal.
Our wedding vision came together with the help of our sister-in-law and wedding planner, Jessica with the Petal Company. We immediately fell in love with the natural ambiance and seclusion of Wilson Vineyards, in Clarksburg, CA. Jessica was able to put together an amazingly beautiful decor to compliment the rustic elements of the barn and vineyards. Nearly every part of the wedding day had personal touches, from the reading of “A Lovely Love Story” (a dinosaur love story) during the ceremony, to our photo wall showcasing wedding photos of our family members. My dad and I were even able to plan a secret father-daughter dance, breaking out to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” After dancing the night away, and taking a short break at the cigar bar, the evening came to a close. We made our getaway through a trail of sparklers to the town car. When we climbed inside, we took a deep breath, smiled, and quietly said “We did it.” We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect night.
