Stripes, polka dots, and gold are a match that one needs to see to truly appreciate. It’s a combo that is all at once modern and glam blended with the design savvy crafting of Sitting in a Tree Events and pops of pink ombre by Green Fresh Florals. And a venue overlooking the skyline of San Diego certainly doesn’t hurt. But perhaps the best part of this story is that the Bride and Groom left the planning to the experts and decided to be pleasantly surprised on their wedding day. From the looks of the gorgeous images captured by Rebecca of Birds of a Feather Photography, I would say that surprise was a huge success. And then some. From Tori of Sitting in a Tree Events… Erica and Dustin are a dream couple. She’s a stunning fashionista (just look at that vintage ring and dress!) and he’s an amazing DJ and combined they have some of the best style around. They came to me with a vision of modern Hollywood Regency glamour and the desire to have a wedding that felt like a good party. And the best part? They wanted the design to be a surprise! So armed with a color palette and their recently designed home as inspiration we went to work on surprising this couple on their big day.
We lit a room full of candles, tied napkins into bow ties, adorned the bar with lamps & vases, added classic black and white touches, and then made everything shimmer with gold strewn throughout. Pitbulls and Posies laser cut tiny records, mustaches & lips for each guest, and the florist gave the day an ombre touch of pink to soften things up. Panton chairs were brought in to create the modern vibe the bride and groom so adore and the ceremony space was transformed into a glam gold lounge with neon lighting and snacks for the late night crew.
All of this AND on a rooftop with a view of downtown San Diego and an intimate guest list of 50 made it a pretty epic evening for them and their guests. There is nothing quite like getting to surprise a bride and groom on their wedding day. Already so full of love, joy and emotion surrounded by their 50 nearest and dearest, this just made their day that much more memorable. And what a great beginning to their love story. Thanks Erica & Dustin for letting us play such a big role in your wedding day!
