In true 21st Century fashion, these two lovebirds met over the printer at work. And in true Style Me Pretty fashion, their wedding was breathtaking. A pretty combination of the fairest greens and sweetest purples, succulents to die for, and a the aforementioned couple – who might as well be models. The gallery is filled to a beautiful bursting point with images from The Youngrens. We won’t tell if you turn off your ringer for a few moments to check it out.
From the groom … In September 2004, I packed my bags and moved out to San Diego to start something new. Looking back at the decision to leave Arizona, I realize that it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. I have met some wonderful people, started a successful career, and met the woman of my dreams!
When I first moved to San Diego, I started working for a large consulting firm. I did not know anyone in the area, but I quickly met a bunch of great people in the office. One in particular stood out to me right away. She was this beautiful girl that was totally stalking me. I mean every time I printed out a legitimate and important document, there she was waiting for me at the printer! In all seriousness, I remember first seeing Delshad in the halls and thinking “Wow, what a beautiful girl”. I spent the next few weeks getting to know her and one day she asked me to help her move to a new apartment in Pacific Beach. After that, I think it was once she saw my muscles she finally agreed to go out on a date with me and the rest is history!
After wooing her for over six years, she finally agreed to marry me. I cannot count the times and ways Delshad has made me a better person. She is one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever met. We have spent the last seven years having a blast enjoying each others company, traveling, and most importantly laughing our butts off. I cannot wait to kick off the rest of my life with Delshad!
From the bride … We picked the ceremony location because we just love the water, the beautiful landscape, and the San Diego vibe. We both love where we live and we’re always riding by that location on our boat. We see lots of weddings all along the bay, but never in that particular spot. It was cool to be able to enjoy the bay from a different perpective while we exchanged our vows.
We picked the Cosmo because we truly felt it matched our cultures, vibe, and taste so much. My parents are Mexican American so I grew up with the latin influence, and Matt also had a lot of culture in his life being Greek. We also love the outdoors and plants, trees, and gardens full of fresh herbs and vegetables so the beautiful patio just blew us away. It was gorgeous with the cast iron chairs and lush plant life. The Cosmo uses fresh ingredients from the patio in the cooking and that was a huge plus for us since we also grow herbs and veggies in our backyard for our family cooking. The vibe was laid back yet elegant so we were very happy!
I told Carmin I loved the color purple and always wanted to inlcude some type of green to match the greens of the Cosmo. I really like jewel colors but felt with the dark purple I needed something more alive so green it was. We love succulents and they totally remind Mathew of life in Arizona where he grew up so Carmin choosing to incorporate them was important to us and turned out fantastic.
We really tried to bring all our cultureal background into our ceremony and reception. I’m adopted from Iran so I wanted to incorporated a Persian tradition into the ceremony. The Persian wedding tradition is called, “honey ceremony” and it happens before the bride & groom kiss for the first time as husband and wife. This is done so the newly married couple start their marriage with the sweet taste in their mouth. We also had Mariachis as a gift from my Papa during the ceremony which brought in the Mexican culture of his side of the family. We wanted to show people how beautiful it could be and that it just didn’t sound like La Bamba! It was very special to all of us. Finally we had some awesome Greek music and dancing at the reception. This was to represent the Greek Culture on Matt’s side family, and plus the dancing was so much fun and all the guests were excited to join in.
We loved getting ready with our friends and feeling the anticipation of what was about to happen. We loved seeing how happy our parents were and the look in the guests eyes when they saw us for the first time. We loved my Papa’s speech, he even made the guys tear up. Our little Brother gave us such a wonderful speech which made us all even closer. He’s a shy guy so hearing his feelings was the coolest gift we got that day! Everything was flawless for us that day, we were spoiled with attention and just were in awe over all the people who came to celebrate with us. We had friends there from all parts of our lives which was amazing. The Youngrens did such an amazing job with all the photos its hard to choose any favorites. Overall we both noticed two major themes, how well they captured the emotion of the day and the details of the wedding venue decor. That day was such a whirlwind for both of us, that it will be so nice to look back at the photos as we grow old together and clearly remember how we felt at any given moment as well as reminisce on how beatiful the venue looked from all the hard work and attention to detail from our incredible wedding planner Carmin from Carmin Design.
