A common strategy for avoiding wedding day stress is to hire a wedding coordinator, but this bride had another (cheaper!) strategy: she woke up with a laugh and a smile. It set the tone for her whole day, and even when the weather looked like it might not cooperate with her plans, she kept a positive attitude and was rewarded with a gorgeous day. With Ashley O’Dell Photography behind the lens, all of the details are simply stunning, especially the florals by Wedding Designs by Denise. From the Bride… When I think about the wedding, it’s hard for me to think about it as just that day. Brian and I designed the wedding together and did so much to get ready for the big day that it felt like planning the wedding was the real beginning of our partnership. From scouring Brimfield antique market for our vignette items, to designing the invites with my best friend and business partner extraordinaire, it really was a labor of love. Our families and friends were incredibly loving and helpful leading right up to my first step down the “aisle.”
The morning of the wedding, the first sound I heard was a harp (my friends alarm sound), even in my half-asleep state, I laughed out loud at the irony since I’ve never been a “princess” bride kind of girl. Laughing is a great way to start your wedding day! The morning was foggy and raining, but I never worried about the weather because I knew it would burn off and leave us with a lovely day. Our families both came to the house, and we all began to set up the wedding together with my mom locked in a room producing the massive amounts of flower arrangements. Before I knew it Jennie had arrived to do my hair and from there everything moved with lighting speed.
The ceremony was filled with joy and so much better than we could have imagined. After our photo shoot, we headed to cocktail hour, greeted our friends and family, and the reception began. We enjoyed vegan ice cream and sweet potato fries and then danced the night away with all of our guests. Everyone says the wedding day goes by fast, but thanks to the great advice from our photographer, we really took the time to enjoy each moment in the planning, creating the details, and throughout the day and night of our wedding. We had as much fun as two people could have right up to the end. The night ended epically with “Bohemian Rhapsody” and fireworks, and though it’s over, the day lives on in our hearts, memories and beautiful photos.
