French-Inspired Utah Wedding from Michelle Leo Events

It’s a bright, shiny New Year and we want to ring it in the best way we know how; with a whole slew of perfect affairs and I can honestly say that even though I don’t personally know this couple, their french-inspired wedding has shot to the top of my favorites list. It’s the sweet details, the incorporation of family and loved ones, a moment between the Bride and Groom on a gorgeous hammock that sets this day apart. With the feel of a homegrown affair and the look of styled perfection by Michelle Leo Events, it’s a well rounded day from beginning to end and all captured so perfectly by Alixann Loosle Photography. But all gorgeousness aside, our favorite tid bit is the happy ending that includes a Grandfather making it to the festivities last minute. Go Pappy! See it all right here.

From Michelle Leo Events… Mel and Roman were a sweet, wonderful couple to work with and I had such a blast creating their French Country look. From the textures of the twall and burlap fabrics used, to the cottage-style tables my husband built to accommodate their look, this wedding was simply a joy from start to finish. I fell in love with the little details that Mel was obsessed with using and I’m so glad I was able to design something that brought her French vision to life!

From the Bride… Having an outdoor wedding is always risky, especially when there isn’t an indoor space to escape bad weather. But I knew I wanted to take the risk regardless because Midway is one of the most beautiful spots in Utah. What really sold me on the venue was ‘The Grove’ where the ceremony takes place. It was a magical moment the first visit when we were looking at venues. I knew in my heart it was the place as soon as I stepped foot in the middle of those beautiful trees and stood in front of the wooden arbor. I will never forget it. Creating the invite is what sparked the first butterflies for me because it was the first tangible piece of the wedding design. It was so rewarding to finally see all of my style inspirations merged together in one paper suite. I was inspired by old wooden fruit crates, burlap grain sacks, garden roses, and anything that resembled the French countryside.

With the help of Michelle from Michelle Leo Events, our French Country theme came to life! She incorporated these amazing cottage tables and benches that her husband built specifically for my wedding! Michelle then decorated the tables with simple burlap runners and our florist Amanda created amazing centerpieces in tall French candelabras. She also provided a mix of shorter arrangements in wooden boxes to add that country feel. My sweetheart table included a precious twall bench that currently sits in front of a fireplace at my parent’s house. We even incorporated the twall at the wedding arbor with a gorgeous fabric backdrop. It gave it a simple romance in such a natural setting.

My mother’s parents are the cutest couple that ever hit this planet. I can only hope to be as adorably in love as they are when I am their age with my honey. Instead of grandma and grandpa they are nanny and pappy in my family. My pappy had an eye surgery just before the wedding and said he would not be able to make it to the wedding. When I heard this from my mom it brought me to tears. He is the sweetest man and I don’t get to see him very often. I knew my nanny was coming so I felt grateful in that. On the day of the wedding we had just had the most beautiful ceremony and finished up some pictures. As we came out to our dinner I saw my sweet pappy sitting at one of the tables. He wasn’t in good shape but when he heard how I cried he said he couldn’t miss it. It was a sweet moment that I won’t forget.
