Colorado Wedding from Sarah Kate, Photographer
I love this bride and groom. LOVE them. Because not only is their story one of the sweetest ever (an E-Harmony meeting, a day-long first date, a breathtaking + romantic proposal), they chose one of my favorite states (Colorado) as their perfect destination for saying I Do. And when I say that the day was beyond gorgeous, it's a serious understatement. Because this is a day that is brimming with rustic details, glorious images from Sarah Kate, Photographer and four adorable kiddos that will steal your hearts from moment one. From the Bride... Our story is one of God's redeeming work in each of our lives and the lives of our families. As single parents to four young children, neither Luke nor I were in a position to date or even meet someone "traditionally." We both have extremely busy lives, including our full-time professions, which led us to e-Harmony. The online introduction lasted only a short week before Luke wanted to meet for coffee. We hit it off immediately and turned a casual, afternoon coffee-date into a sushi dinner and dessert. Dating was one fun-filled adventure after another, both as a couple and, oftentimes, with kiddos in tow, imagining what life might look like as a family.
Luke I both have family ties to Colorado and enjoy being active outdoors. In June, Luke surprised me with a weekend getaway to Colorado Springs, where he proposed atop Montezuma's Tower — an iconic rock-climbing route in the Garden of the Gods. It was unbelievably romantic and I, quite literally, felt on top of the world after the two-pitch climb. When we first started discussing the wedding, Luke suggested that we go to Colorado near Independence Pass during September to catch the changing aspen leaves. To say that I fell in love with the idea is putting it mildly. The aspen became our theme and allowed us to combine nature and elegance into a cohesive aesthetic. I wanted the wedding to feel distinctly feminine and elegant, yet be in juxtaposition with nature, textured materials and raw wood grain.
The day was more than perfect. We had an intimate, sunset, creek-side wedding at the base of Mount Princeton, followed by a catered dinner on the wrap-around deck and dancing under a canopy of lights. It was a rich celebration of the Lord's goodness and grace in our lives; we couldn't have imagined it any other way. What a gift.
