I totally love this couple's story. They fell in love with this quaint town on trips to his family's lake house, so when it came time to tie the knot, they couldn't think of a better locale then Bayfield. And lucky for us too, because that meant Hazlitt Vintage Rental was in charge of all the fabulous vintage styling. Every summer, since Will and I started dating, we would try to make a few trips up to his parents cottage in Lions Head, Ontario for vacation. We would always stop in Bayfield along the way to break up the drive from Detroit , Michigan, it marks about the "halfway" point. We would trek down the stairs to the beach with our dog, a german shepherd mix named Diesel, to play in the sand and water. Then, when we were all sandy and wet, we'd usually swing by The Black Dog Bistro for a beer and a meal. It just became a tradition, a little special moment where, on our way up to"get away from it all" at the cottage, we could stop, take a deep breath, look around at all of the beauty the town has to offer, and officially mark the start of our vacation. Bayfield is just such a happy place for Will and I, and we really wanted to share that with all of our guests.
Once one of us had the idea to have the wedding there - we couldn't have imagined doing it anywhere else. It was such a wonderful, small community to work with; everyone made the planning so easy, which was especially helpful since we had to plan from a distance. We moved to Seattle, Washington area earlier this year so Will’s mom, Marianne, did much of the planning legwork and made several trips to Bayfield from Detroit to meet with everyone. And the day itself was perfect - more than we ever could have hoped for! Bayfield is truly a special place and now to us, is not just the site of many very happy little stops, but also the site of our very happiest day -when we were able to share it with our closest friends and family.
