Sydney Wedding from Karen Willis Holmes

This is such a beautiful wedding. There's no other way to put it. When I see how the natural setting of the Bible Garden so perfectly suits a Bride and Groom wonderfully in love as it does in all of the images by Matthew Mead Photography, the only word that comes to mind is beautiful. And when I lay eyes on that lacy Karen Willis Holmes gown, man oh man, I don't even know what to do with myself. Find it all in the gallery right here.

From the Bride... Andrew and I first 17 years ago at Narrabeen Lakes Sailing Club. He proposed to me during our regular morning walk from Bronte. I had wanted Andrew to ask me for years and had almost given up hope. He had planned to take me to Tamarama Beach and ask me to marry him as the sun was rising. I had other ideas though and insisted we walk through the cemetery towards Clovelly. So as not to rouse my suspicions, Andrews reluctantly agreed. Then, a little further along, I realized I was going to be late for work and wanted to head back. Andrew urged me to continue at least to the dog park as surely that would be a better spot to propose than a cemetery! Realizing he wasn’t going to make it to Clovelly, he dropped to one knee beside a public bubbler, popped the question and presented me with my grannie’s beautiful sapphire ring. I was shocked and didn’t quite believe him, but after some reassurance, I finally said yes!

I am an event manager, so I am constantly looking at venues and themes for work. I loved and found Style Me Pretty and Pinterest great for ideas. We wanted the day to be a relaxed, fun party with a bit of pink because it is my favorite color. We choose the Bible Garden as it is a special place for my family. We have spent many happy times at Palm Beach with my grannie, and we liked that we could return to this garden for other special occasions in our lives. We chose our date of Friday, Oct. 5 because we loved the idea of everyone getting a day off work and wanted a quick engagement (it was six months). We choose Pilu as we wanted to have a homely feeling for our wedding but also wanted fantastic food and drinks. This was the perfect venue. The wedding day was boiling – it got up to 34 degrees Celsius! Luckily, it cooled off a bit by the time we got to the ceremony. I loved that my gown had two dresses in one – as my husband calls them, the "proper dress" and the "sexy dress." My sister also wore my veil for her wedding a month later.
