The best soiree, in my most humble of opinions, has to have a little nod to the water. I love everything by the sea, so a wedding with a super chic – but oh so subtle nautical factor wins my heart over and over again, every single time. And throw Virgil Bunao Fine Art Weddings and his camera into the mix for a result that is be-yond. Beyond my expectations, beyond my wildest dreams, beyond anything you’ve seen before. It was only natural for Lauren and Tim to have an elegantly rustic-nautical feel to their wedding; the couple, both born and raised Charlestonians, met at Salty Mikes with a Lowcountry water view, enjoyed time on the boat when dating, and headed straight back to Salty Mikes after getting engaged a few years later on the dock at Charleston Harbor. Less than a year after the engagement, they tied the knot right on the marsh under a gorgeous driftwood chuppah, with the most picturesque sunset as a backdrop. More than anything the couple wanted the day to be a memorable party with the ones they loved most, both present and in spirit.
From the very beginning, Lauren was drawn to shades of blue and ivory, wanting clean lines and fun textures that enhanced the natural beauty of Lowndes Gove… while Tim just wanted to make sure all the seafood was local! Add in touches of burlap, gorgeous flowers from Branch Design Studio, and some amazingly unique rope-and-iron chandeliers, and it was a perfect nod to the sea-loving couple. Bulb lights twinkled romantically above comfy lounge, and thick rope spiraled its way around hurricane candles to give everyone a soft glow. Under the tent, farm tables added in just the right amount of roughness, complemented with a very feminine crinkle taffeta linen. The photo booth, sunglasses for the late night dance crew, and a brightly colored candy bar (with a range of vintage and new candy hand selected by the bride) all contributed to the festive atmosphere!
Then, as if the night weren’t picture-perfect enough, the bride and groom made the very first boat exit on the new dock – complete with champagne for toasting to the great life ahead!
