Sean and I first met at a Matthew Good Concert that one of my concert venues was hosting. We didn’t get much time together as soon after it was time for the annual Calgary Stampede. The city of Calgary is turned upside down and it become my busiest work month of the entire year. With Sean being a Fire Fighter, our schedules were often very busy and conflicting.
This about sums up our lives…. Extremely busy, which is why we chose to have out wedding in one of the most relaxing, most breath taking places in Canada. Banff, Alberta in the Rocky Mountains.
We chose to have our wedding in Banff because Banff is almost like a destination wedding, but yet right outside of the city, considered Calgary’s backyard if you wish. The Rimrock is one of our most favourite Hotels in all of Banff, and with the breath taking views of mountains surrounding it, we were sold on it as our venue.
The inspiration for our wedding was due in part to my personal style, which has a slight bohemian flare, as well as our relaxed outlook on life. The theme to our wedding was Romantic Bohemian, which I truly believe screams Banff. The romantic theme of the wedding made picking our colours very simple. We did natural shades (creams, whites, light pinks) for all the florals and bridesmaids dresses. And the rustic highlights were scene through out with the seating chart chalk board, woodstump cake stand, mason jars, and moss table numbers. Our wedding had a very natural and earthy feel to it.
Our wedding day was just filled with family, love, and loads of laughter. Both Sean and I hold our family and friends so close to us. Even though we had 270 guests at the reception, it truly did feel like a very intimate day with our closest. The speeches at the reception were truly remarkable and had everyone in stitches laughing, to tears in more tender moments. And the night wrapped up with an unbelievably active dance floor.
My favourite moment of the entire day was turning the corner to walk down the aisle. Seeing Sean standing at the end, looking so handsome, truly took my breath away.
We loved every single moment of the day, from beginning to very end.
