It's a little bit whimsical, a little bit vintage and a whole lot laid-back which is exactly what an outdoor soiree at the gorgeous Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens should be! From the Bride... It was always very important for Seth and me that our wedding be a fun party, a day our friends and family would always talk about and remember with excitement. So with that in mind, we always wanted an outdoor wedding. The main inspirations were drawn from wanting a whimsical feel, a little bit vintage and home-made. We are not super-polished in the way we approach our lives, so while we wanted the day to be perfect, it still needed to feel natural and relaxed. I personally became obsessed with white! So I wore white and so did my bridesmaids, and we all carried white flowers. The overall color scheme was centerd around white. We had white stationery with accents of green, pink and gray, as well as kraft paper brown to reflect the natural setting in which we were married. We also had all-white linens and white powder-coated tins as decoration on the tables. I also became obsessed with soft, dappled lighting. Another wonderful aspect of having our wedding outdoors was we got to control the light. Each table had the white powder coated tins with tea lights, creating a soft flicker. The grounds were also surrounded with old coffee jars with tea lights creating a soft glow. We also had floating jars above the bridal table to further create a soft dappled light and whimsical feel. The trees were also light with flood lights, so you could see the gorgeous surrounds but not feel overwhelmed by artificial lighting.
Something we did a little bit different was to have all of our bridal party (five bridesmaids, three groomsmen and one "groomslady") and their partners sit at the bridal table. Our amazing bridal party traveled from London, Germany, Melbourne and Sydney, as well as our local friends, so we wanted their partners to feel totally included as well. It was a big U shape bridal table looking out to nine round tables with all of our other guests. The venue was also BYO which meant we got to have lots of fun with the drinks. We had the usual selection of beer, champagne and white and red wines, but also had rum punch, vodka and pomegranate punch, as well as whiskey and apple and pear cider. I think our guests were pleasantly surprised by the variety of drinks and took full advantage! We supplied a bus with a number of stops along the way so our guests could hop on and off where it was convenient for them so they didn't have to drive. Again, we wanted everyone to be able to drink, party and celebrate with us.
