Yesterday we paid a little visit to a gorgeous soiree in my home state, but I wasn’t quite ready to leave the Great Lakes State, so we’re back this morning with a second helping. This one comes to us from Jen Lynne Photography, who captured a day filled with personality and heart. Seriously, this bride has got it all, and we love her and her new groom. With Stella Event Design on hand for the big day, it was every bit as perfect as we would expect. Click here to see more!

From Jen Lynne Photography … Emily and Aaron’s ceremony and reception took place at MillCreek Barns in Watervliet, MI on a sunny day in August. Guests sat outside sipping iced tea and lemonade while Emily and Aaron said “I do,” then moved inside the barn where they enjoyed appetizers and cocktails. Cocktails were served to guests in their own personal mason jar which doubled as a favor. Emily painted chalkboard paint on each mason jar so that guests could write their names on the mug, use it throughout the night, then take it home with them. The mugs were perfectly paired with paper straws in yellow, pink, and blue which made them even more fun. After guests had time to enjoy apps, cocktails, and yard games, they were treated to a delicious stationed meal. A salad station, a meat station, a veggie station, and my personal favorite a mashed potato bar with all the toppings. Dinner led right into dessert and coffee. The dessert table was one of my favorite parts of the wedding. Emily and Aaron went all out: four flavors of pie, three types of cookies, two flavors of cake, and brownies!
Emily’s style came out in all the details: the stationary, her jewelry, the guestbook, her shoes and dress, and especially in the coffee filter flowers she made herself. I would describe her style as vintage, mix-and-match, and romantic. All things I absolutely love, so it was a real treat helping her pull together the centerpieces using Simply Stella’s vintage rentals. We created three different centerpieces that alternated between the tables. The first was a vintage crate with a collection of mason jars. The second was a tea tin paired with a stack of old books. The third was a collection of milk glass. The flowers from Crystal springs brought everything together. Baby’s breath, ranunculus, garden roses, stock, craspedia, queen anne’s lace, and dusty miller to name just a few of the stunning blooms.
After dinner and a heartwarming slideshow, guests danced the night away and were treated to hours of fun in the open air photo booth, complete with props. Guests enjoyed a true Midwest barn wedding (there was even a bonfire after dark!) and everyone left wishing they could stay longer!
