Matthew Robbins Engagement Session from Christian Oth Studio
Matthew Robbins is like the Bieber of the Wedding World. Adorable, crazy talented and he has a way of making the ladies swoon. We are definitely Team Matthew around these parts and fell even more in love when we got our hot little hands on his book, Inspired Weddings; a must read for all you Brides-to-be. Now enter this dapper, straight-out-of-a-movie-set engagement captured by another crazy talent, Christian Oth. When these boys meet up, it is indeed sheer magic and the result is a gallery bursting at the seems with beauty, love and some incredibly cute pups too.
From Matthew Robbins… When my friend Christian Oth suggested we do an “engagement” shoot I was definitely a little hesitant. I was overwhelmed with an insanely busy work schedule and I just thought we should skip this photo session knowing there would be so many great photos from the wedding day. After some back and forth about the shoot we finally agreed on a date to make it happen. Wow, I’m so very grateful and thrilled we did!! I’m in love with so many of the images as they really capture the spirit of who we are as a couple.
Most of the images were shot at nearby Glenmere Farm in the Hudson Valley which is also where we go every Friday to pick up our seasonal, farm fresh produce. The winding country road leading to the CSA pickup every weekend was something we both looked forward to as signal to unwind, take in the scenery and enjoy our time away from our busy lives in the city. Our home is maybe ten minutes away so the farm was a perfect setting for the shoot. The landscape represents so much about why we enjoy our time in the beautiful Hudson Valley.
I first met Jack in Tennessee which is filled with rolling green hills, horses, barns and a laid back sensibility. Years later our time together in Northern California was always highlighted by our magical trips to the Napa, Sonoma and many of the coastal towns heading North from San Francisco. We enjoyed stopping for fresh produce in the summer months and taking in the dreamy scenery of the wine country. The farm we chose for our engagement shoot is a wonderful combination of our past and present as a couple. Our favorite summer moments are always centered around spending time in our garden.
We were both very sure about our desire to maintain our personal style for the shoot. Jackie from Merci NY did an incredible job of mixing some of our own pieces with wonderful things she pulled for our shoot. One of my favorite shots Christian captured features our two wonderful poodles, Ollie and Bruno framed by the large wooden gate. I couldn’t resist nestling little Ollie into the leather bag. He spent many years running around NYC and on airplanes as my quiet little sidekick and he always fits perfectly into any bag I’m carrying!
