Stan and I met six years ago in Montreal where we both studied. Yet, we are both French and currently live in Paris. In the summer 2011, on my birthday, Stan organized a surprise week-end away in Brussels, where he proposed. Things went very fast after that weekend. As our friends and family all live in different parts of the world, we felt it was essential that the venue should only be one hour away from Paris and its different airports and train stations. We found La Grange de Bourgoult and immediately fell in love with it. The dining room had exposed beams and all the building were Norman style.
We didn’t want our wedding colors to clash with the natural colors of the place, so we decided on pale pink and green. We wanted a classical with bohemian touch style wedding, so my husband and his best men all wore morning coats, with waistcoats and striped trousers while I had my dress made by Laure de Sagazan, a very sweet and talented stylist from Paris. Laure de Sagazan’s wedding dresses are all very delicate with a lot of lace and principally made of crepe fabric. She designed an entirely custom-made dress that I love and that was so easy to move around in on our wedding day.
For all the wedding details, I have an incredible mother and mother-in-law to thank for their dedication. My mother took care of all the flowers with our local florist, and had 3 vases filled with light pink dahlias, roses, raspberries and leafage for each table. Our theme was “Bonbons”, so we asked a friend to do water-color drawings representing a type of bonbon for each table. The end result was beautiful. My mother-in-law sewed all the lovely flower girls’ dresses. As wedding favors we put small kraft bags with French bonbons for each seat.
To capture this day, I wanted a photographer who would document all the important steps with a vision of her own, and I couldn’t think of anyone more suited than Emilie who had already photographed my mother and I in the past. In the end, our wedding went by so fast that I barely had the time to take it all in, but I cherish all the wonderful and precious moments from that day spent with my husband, our families and our friends who came from all other the world to be with us on this very special occasion.
