Perhaps I’m partial to this pretty wedding because my bestie got married at the Dana-Powers Barn just a few years ago. Or maybe it’s just that this wedding is all sorts of fab. It’s got an insanely beautiful rustic feel, with tons of crafty touches like the adorable yarn wrapped bottles. Mirelle Carmichael Photography was there to snap up all the pretty and trust me when I say, there’s a lot more eye candy to be had right here.

From Mirelle Carmichael Photography… From the early morning mimosa bar to the charming rustic chic reception, Joey and Lisa’s wedding day was filled to the brim with fun and crafty details. A combination of DIY projects and the work of some of the best wedding vendors on the Central Coast, this Dana-Powers Barn wedding was chock full of burlap, yarn and vintage lace details that would make any rustic chic bride swoon! The couple met while attending college at the University of California, Santa Barbara (also my alma mater!) and incorporated much of their Santa Barbara-based relationship into their wedding, allowing guests to come to know their love story.
From the Bride… Joey and I met while attending college at UC Santa Barbara, and we spent the first two years building our relationship in that gorgeous beach town. When we got engaged, we knew we wanted to incorporate some of our favorite memories from our time in Santa Barbara into our rustic chic wedding. I crafted our table names out of scrapbooking paper and doilies, using places and restaurants in Santa Barbara that held a special place in our hearts. We included a brief narrative for each to give our guests a closer look into our love story.
Choosing our reception venue was a slam dunk. I had my eye set on the Dana-Powers Barn long before Joey proposed (shhh … don’t tell him!). This charming hay barn was retro-fitted for weddings about six years back and is overflowing with vintage details. The first time we visited the property, we felt right at home and knew it would be the perfect place to host our out-of-town guests. We chose olive green and plum as our wedding colors and accented with burlap and lace to create a romantic feel. Our florist used ivory lisianthus, plum micro-daisies and baby’s breath for the bouquets and boutonnieres. She also incorporated these into our homemade centerpieces which consisted of five variously-sized beer and wine bottles, which we either spray painted or wrapped in yarn and twine. Our signature cocktails — “Trama” Tea and “Wise-a-rita” — were served in mason jars and were enjoyed alongside a delicious Santa Maria-style BBQ dinner. Being the chef that he is, Joey made rosemary-infused olive oil for our guests to take home at the end of the night. Though it sounds cliche, our wedding was truly the best day of our lives. I recommend making the day a reflection of you as a couple by incorporating your favorite colors, foods, songs, etc. Most importantly, enjoy it! Make time throughout the day to look around the room with your new spouse and savor the moment because it goes by quickly!
