I don’t know if there’s anything that warms my heart quite like a Savannah wedding. The draping Spanish moss and the elegance and charm that can only come from a location so steeped in history truly makes me so thrilled to see weddings like this from Nate Henderson Photography. And any wedding that can combine such timeless elements – the Alfred Angelo gown, the toile print, and the Americana color scheme, to name a few – into a celebration as perfect as this wedding is a winner in my book. From the Bride… We were very focused on making everything about the wedding “scene” very personal romantic, and slightly old-fashioned. One of the main reasons we chose Savannah was because of the natural beauty that seemed to stop in time long ago. There are a lot of handmade features in the wedding, including the napkins, which were hand-sewn, and the material is carried over into the binding on the programs. Many of the items in the wedding (the blue ball mason jars, toile pattern, all-over alencon lace dress, the cake designed to match the dress, and even the custom cake topper) were all chosen for nostalgic or personal reasons, tributes to Shannon’s mother, etc. Robert chose navy blue to go with the ivory since it’s a classic Americana pairing, further complimented by the red flowers on the table. My favorite aspect of my wedding dress is that it is just timeless and classic — I feel like my mother could have worn the dress 50 years ago and it would still be beautiful today. I was in search of an all-over lace dress, and I just fell in love with this one as soon as I put it on. The designer added cap sleeves to the strapless design so it feels even more old-fashioned and romantic to me. The trim on the veil is an exact match to the rope embroidery in the dress. I loved the lace so much that we asked to have our cake detailed to match it.
