From the Bride... The day started just like any relaxing day at the lake in Maine. I thought we were going fishing for a few hours. We hit all the best spots, and I just kept casting away. Until I felt the canoe shake and I look back and thought Kevin had fallen over. Nope. He was down on one knee in the middle of the lake in a CANOE, and if you know Kevin, that was quite the feat itself.
Kevin and I currently live in Boston, but we knew immediately we wanted to get married in the mountains. We spend a great deal of time up in New Hampshire at my family’s ski house, and what better place could you pick to see the fall foliage? Kevin had never been to the Mt Washington Hotel, but I remember driving by it as a little girl and thinking it was a castle. As Kevin and I rounded the corner for the first time, both of our jaws dropped. We knew immediately nothing would ever surpass this place. With lots of family traveling from London, South Africa and Australia, it was important for us to have a place where our families wouldn’t get bored. We picked our fall date that weekend, and the planning began. We really wanted our friends and family to know how much this day meant to us, so we spent a lot of time making things ourselves. We even made our own wine that we used as favors! It was a blast, and now we have a memento to remind us of that special day.
Our day was absolutely perfect. It went by too fast! We were SO blessed to have Spring Smith document our day. Not only is she a fabulous photographer, but she became a dear friend, and we both love her to pieces. We will be looking back on this day through her lens — such happy moments. We are so grateful!
