Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books. And Judy Pak is one of my favorite photographers. So this Long Island Photo Shoot designed by Ang Weddings and Events and Michelle Edgemont? Well, it’s pure inspiration heaven. Every.single.detail was crafted to perfection, from the rich florals by Barbara’s Flowers to the dessert bar by Big City Little Sweets. From Ang Weddings and Events… This was an Great Gatsby-inspired bridal shoot with a indie/rock and roll twist. We wanted to create a fun, young, fresh, celebratory vibe. An extravagant party that everyone would want to be invited to and never have to leave! The NYIT De Seversky Mansion, a neoclassical/Georgian mansion built in 1918 that sits on 300 acres in Old Westbury, served as an absolutely perfect backdrop for this shoot. Judy thought it would be fun to use the same initials as the book’s couple, Daisy and Jay, so we named our couple Dahlia and Jayden. Make Merry designed the invitation suite with a bold, deco-inspired envelope liner and gold confetti drops on the RSVP envelope. Michelle Edgemont Designs created so many unique handmade elements for the shoot, including the J&D lighted signs we used over the bar, the geometric paper décor for the ceremony and all the wedding day paper goods. The floral design by Barbara’s Flowers was kept loose and wild with lots of greenery. The ceremony arch was wrapped with a vine in an organic and non-choreographed way. Big City Little Sweets created a decadent dessert display filled with scrumptious macarons, cake lollipops, cookies, mini cupcakes and tiramisu dessert cups. Dahlia wore Jenny Packham’s breathtaking Azalea gown from her Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Emily Riggs Bridal designed the perfect headpieces to complete her 1920’s style. JAC Beauty gave her a young fresh look, keeping her hairstyle very textured and giving her a gorgeous cranberry lip color. Judy Pak Photography captured the day in a fun, light-hearted and whimsical style, with the help of second shooter Falcon Griffith and cinematographer MLKL Photography. We had a blast working on this shoot!
