Let me say first that I am the biggest fan ever of a bride in boots. EVER. And even though I’ve never actually owned my own pair (I know, I know), I do a happy dance every time I see a newly betrothed Mrs. kickin’ it country. Needless to say, this fab Minnesota affair had my heart the very second I spotted the uber-stunning bride, not to mention the plethora of darling DIY details (here’s looking at you, farm tables), beautiful blooms from Sadie’s Couture Floral & Event Styling and gorgeous images from Lauren Kirkbride Photography. Rustic romance and a whole lot of pretty? Yes, please. Click here for more.
And a gorgeous film from Capture Studios that will seriously take your breath away…
From the Bride… As Jesse and I began planning our wedding, only one word came to mind: country. We both grew up in small farm towns, and we knew we wanted a day that celebrated our heritage along with our marriage. An outdoor setting was a must for our style, so we chose my favorite childhood park, surrounded by gravel roads and corn fields, to share in our special day. Bringing the rest of our visions to life was truly a community affair. Friends and family gathered to help with all the touches, from homemade invitations and programs to flower arrangements and favors. The county pork producers grilled for our guests, and we even recruited the local eighth grade shop class to make 50 farm tables for our reception.
On the day of our wedding, we were blessed by the beautiful summer sunshine. My bridesmaids and I got ready at my home, following a breakfast tea put on by my grandmother. The ceremony itself was the highlight of our day, as we were united in marriage under tall oak trees with our loved ones seated amongst rows of hay bales. Antique items, scavenged from my family’s abandoned farm house, provided rustic décor.
After a social hour of popcorn and lemonade, we were ushered into our reception tent. An assortment of purple wildflowers filled vintage vases along the tables, complementing our laid-back style. Illuminating the room was a large wooden backdrop, constructed by my husband and brothers from wood torn off our old corn crib. The rest of the night was filled with dancing, campfires and s’mores, with late-night ice cream sundaes providing the perfect ending to our day. A sparkler farewell ushered us off as we rode away in a friend’s vintage pickup truck. We were so grateful for the many friends and family who shared in our wedding and helped turn our country romance into the start of our lifetime together.
