Maine Wedding from L. brook events

It’s easy to see why Autumn is my favorite season of the year. It all boils down to the bountiful amounts of bright, warm colors that seem to be everywhere during the few months we have of Fall. And as Winter slowly approaches, the more nostalgic and appreciative I am of this lovely season. Luckily, we have these gorgeous images from Emily Delamater Photography that will keep us company even after all the leaves have fallen. L. brook events, a.k.a. the Bride, has treated us to the best of Fall eye candy and you can see it all right here.

From the Bride, Owner of L. brook eventsOur wedding was one of the most amazing days of my life thus far. It was an unforgettable feeling to be surrounded by our closest family and friends, and Chris and I still gush, almost a year later, about the day and how much fun it was. When setting out to plan our wedding, we took a friend’s advice and each listed our top five priorities for planning. We compared our answers, which were pretty much the same, and used our lists to guide our planning. We decided on Portland, Maine, for the location of our wedding because it is an amazing place to visit and is rich in history, culture and great food. Grace restaurant was one of the first venues we thought of. Grace is in an incredibly unique venue. Once a landmark church in Portland, it was recently converted into a restaurant and event venue. We knew that the space was like no other place most of our guests had been to, had amazing chefs and staff, and we loved how it was located in historic downtown Portland, close to great hotels, restaurants and shops.

Chris and I both love autumn in Maine and always talked about wanting a fall wedding even before we got engaged. With only two Saturday dates left for weddings in the fall at Grace, we decided on November 5, 2011 as our wedding day. Thinking about the autumn season in Maine inspired the design of our wedding. It was very important to us that the flowers and décor highlight the natural architectural beauty of Grace rather than detract from it. We decided on a palette of brown, gold, ivory and various shades of purple. We knew that we wanted the reception to feel romantic and intimate and feature elements of the season in a unique and not overdone way. On half of the reception tables lanterns acted as the centerpiece and were surrounded by small vases filled with purple stock, seeded eucalyptus and lavender roses. On the other tables, a central arrangement of ivory hydrangeas, purple anemones, stock, chocolate cosmos and lavender roses were displayed in vases wrapped in ivory lace and velvet ribbon. Throughout the reception area and bar were hundreds of ivory candles that created beautiful and romantic light. We incorporated metallic pumpkins of varying sizes, purple cabbage and curly willow branches to create a romantic, whimsical and rustic autumn feel in the remainder of the space. From the gold wishing tree that acted as a guest book to the hand-stamped place cards, this event was filled with many personalized and handmade touches.

It was an absolutely perfect day, unseasonably warm, and because it fell on the day before daylight savings time ended, the light was amazing as we took pictures. We will never forget the day and the feeling of having people from different parts of your life come together to celebrate something so special.
