From Heather Cook Elliott Photography ... Andrea & August were engaged in the air. You read that right – in the air. August is a pilot and he gave Andrea one of the most memorable will you marry me stories I’ve ever heard. To be frank, Andrea was just excited to go up flying, to soar and float with him over farm fields and near the city of Madison where they met. So when August gave the stick to his flight instructor on hand for just this occasion and turned his attention to Andrea she was understandably surprised and bewildered and utterly in shock. She said "yes, I will, of course I will" and so the fun really began.
Modern but old fashioned at the same time, their story told me we had to recall that moment and celebrate it in their engagement pictures. Andrea loved the idea of bringing some vintage accents to the day partly because she knew August is cool enough to wear pink. And wear it well. So on a warm, spring day just before sunset I drove north and they flew in to meet me in a baby blue Piper. They approached like a glider and set down gently on the little runway in the middle of farm fields and wild Queen Anne’s Lace. We shot for an hour and then they were gone – soaring out of view the way they had come, together, happy and literally with their heads in the clouds.
