From the Bride... We always knew that we wanted our wedding day to be a celebration of friends and family — including our baby daughter, who arrived eighteen short months before we made our way down the aisle. We decided to celebrate in a historical area in downtown Toronto. The Distillery had the perfect balance of history and charm, plus it gave our guests the opportunity to enjoy a private outdoor and indoor space. On our wedding day, our guests were greeted with sunny skies. Hooray! Unfortunately, we did have to contend with an unusually high amount of traffic — we had completely forgotten that one of the largest busking events was taking place on the streets in between our hotel and our venue. We arrived with only a few minutes to spare before the ceremony!
The ceremony was magical. It was a beautiful summer afternoon with just enough breeze to stay cool. Cameron looked stunning in his tux, and Emma delighted everyone as my sister carried her down the aisle. Post-ceremony, we offered our guests a cocktail hour on the patio, then we invited everyone inside for a formal dinner and dancing. I was happy to see so many people staying inside on the dance floor all night — especially since our DJ had to compete with a perfect summer evening on the patio. We thanked all of the late night partiers with late night poutine (including vegetarian gravy!) and sliders (not vegetarian, sorry!).
It was such a memorable day. I'm so happy that Cameron and I waited to get married after Emma was born — having her there to share in the celebration made it more than perfect!
