Details make us swoon, this is true, but it’s the couple that makes us fall in love with weddings time and time again. The way he holds the small of her back, the way she smiles at him. The couple at the center of the wedding is always, always, always the best part. And when Red Letter Events is planning a wedding around a couple so sweet, it’s going to be a gorgeous wedding. Add to that Charlotte Elizabeth Photographer and her camera, and you’ve got a gallery to get lost in!

We met in New York City one night in 2006 (November 19th, to be exact) and were surprised that we not only both lived in Connecticut but attended the same university as well. This made it easy for us to quickly become inseparable, and soon Luv was joining me on a family beach vacation on Kiawah Island. As we were leaving, we stopped in Charleston for an afternoon so that I could share the magic of the place with Luv, who, hailing from India, hadn’t had a chance to visit too many American towns. When planning our wedding, we knew immediately that Charleston would be the perfect destination for our families and friends to gather. We chose to have both our ceremony and our reception at Founders Hall because we felt it reflected our tastes really well—clean and modern, yet natural and earthy. We had been hoping to have the wedding in September or October, but when we were told the only open date—November 19th—we knew it was meant to be.
We paired the colors gray and marigold yellow for the contrast between cool sleekness and mellow warmth. Candles, succulents, and ferns helped to soften the glass, wood, and steel of the reception space, and the late November evening chill enabled us to enjoy a cozy fire on the screened porch. My sister gave a hilarious rhyming maid of honor toast, and we danced to a range of songs, from Bollywood hits to those that were playing in the background of the club on our first night together.
