Fun in the sun is great, but a gray and rainy day can surprise us and deliver the most spectacular atmosphere! Gray Photography (apropos name, huh?) proves it with the remarkable photos below. This couple embraced the weather conditions and absolutely shines through the mist and rain. And when you can't beat the wetness, why not join it? The bride and groom take a final plunge into the pool for a very cool trash the dress session! The grounds at Cypress Lakes Resort are beautiful, and the bride's decision to use a white palette mixed with raw and natural decorations is the perfect complement to the gorgeous location. From the Bride... Our wedding day was amazing! There was so much love and excitement between the both of us and friends and family. We hosted celebrations over three days to make the most of this special time. Even though it rained and we had to move the ceremony location, the day was absolutely perfect for us and we wouldn’t change a thing! I'm not sure there was an exact theme to the day. I'm a bit of a hunter/gatherer and not a fan of anything too matchy, so a lot of it was just my own style thrown together. We used a lot of white mixed with raw, organic decorations. I had collected a lot of ideas and inspiration for the day in the months leading up to the wedding, so I had lots of time to plan everything down to the last detail!
I did a lot of the styling and set up myself with the help of my bridal party. As my now-husband is a carpenter, I had him make up the frame for the ceremony and reception backdrop to hang decorations off. We also had sourced all of our vintage furniture and painted it for the day. We made personalized "scrap books" as the ceremony books for each of our guests. We were extremely happy with the results, but it took a lot of time and effort! My husband was fantastic with contributing, but I think he would be happy to never be involved in another "craft project" again.
The speeches were amazing, and after so much anticipation and lead-up to the day, it was so great to finally see each other and to take our vows before loved ones. We had written our own vows, so it was such a loving and emotional time of the day. Afterward, it was all about having fun and celebrating!
My advice would be to plan ahead and do not leave everything to the last minute (as much as you can!). And to go with your first choice — it’s usually the best, and it can be very easy to become overwhelmed with all the options and opinions out there!
