There is not one ounce of this wedding that I am not head-over-heels in love with. Every image from Bartek & Magda is so super-duper scrumptious in my eyes that I know this bride and I are kindred spirits. Fun and jovial with a heavy dose of adorably visible love, this wedding at Cumberland Heritage Village Museum is quite possibly the sweetest little thing I’ve ever seen. And you can find it all in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… It was very important to both of us that our wedding reception reflected who we are as a couple. With this in mind, we looked for a venue where we could create an atmosphere that was both casual and relaxed and that would allow us to cater the event ourselves. The Cumberland Heritage Village Museum is a charming 100-acre site depicting rural life in the 1920s and 1930s. It is an idyllic setting for any outdoor event, especially a summer picnic like the one we were envisioning.
We reflected the picnic theme and rural vintage feel of the setting in the décor and the flowers. Candles and strings of globe lights created wonderful mood lighting. A cake topper that I made in our likeness, children’s surprise bags, a playful photo booth, lawn games and hearts everywhere contributed to the look and feel of the day. Our centerpieces included second-hand milk glass vases filled with hydrangeas and yellow button pom mums. My bridesmaids helped me make the billy button boutonnières and the bouquets of baby’s breadth wrapped in lace and secured with antique heirloom brooches.
Martin’s family connection to Peru and our love of the food and music from that part of the world influenced our desire to host a reception that fused the charm of a historical setting in rural Ontario with South America’s colorful culture. Our vision was realized thanks to a talented Latin acoustic band, our signature drink (Pisco Sours) and the amazing Peruvian comfort food, lovingly prepared by my new in-laws. Our guests were treated to a selection of desserts – lemon cupcakes, heart-shaped sugar cookies, lemon drops, and alfajores (a traditional Latin American confection) – baked by my cousin, mom and two family friends. We hired the very gifted and creative duo of Bartek and Magda to be our photographers. With effortless skill, they captured all of the important highlights and joyful spirit of this memorable day.
Planning our wedding was a year-long labor of love, and the execution would not have been possible had it not been for our family, friends and day-of planners, who constructed, cooked, crafted, baked, hung and shopped for the perfect items to fit our vision. We feel so lucky to have been able to share this day with those closest to us!
