When it comes to serious crushes, it doesn’t get much bigger than the one I have for these two adorable lovebirds and their sweet-as-can-be Houston e-session. From the Bride-to-Be… Brent and I always knew we wanted something different and unique for our engagement photos. When we started thinking about potential locations, the Orange Show instantly came to mind. Founded by Houston postman Jeff McKissack, this monument was built in homage to his favorite fruit, the orange. It is a Houston treasure and represents Mr. McKissack’s belief that a balanced, healthy life results from hard work and good nutrition. The monument is built out of common materials and features a circus-like maze of balconies, mosaics and brightly colored figures and walkways.
I first fell in love with the Orange Show when I visited with my girl scout troop in elementary school. The bright colors, playful and inviting atmosphere and quirkiness left a big impression on me. It was only natural that I wanted to go back and bring Brent with me for our photos. We had a blast taking photos with giant balloons, paper hearts, over-sized lollipops and wax mustaches and lips. Carlea Wilson captured us at our best, and her fun and whimsical photos really illustrate our relationship and love.
