Anything that’s themed “Southern Chic” and I’m already skipping like a school girl giddy with excitement. Then I saw this A Big To Do Event with its gorgeous Tulip flowers and a menu featuring my favorite mac ‘n’ cheese by Affairs to Remember and it’s official: I’m Sold! From A Big To Do Event… The theme of the wedding, held at an old soap factory built in 1921, was “Southern Chic” with a fun, non-traditional atmosphere. The wedding was inspired by the couple’s style and the role the South played in their relationship (the bride is from Alabama, and couple met/live in Georgia). They wanted every detail to say “them,” not “typical wedding.” The DJ and 130 guests made this Sunday night wedding seem like a Saturday night and could’ve kept the party going well into Monday with their energy. As the groom is a chef, food was important. The couple chose a southern menu with favorites like mac ‘n’ cheese, shrimp and grits, and fried green tomatoes. The groomsmen wore gray Chuck Taylors with their suits, and the couple surprised their guests with a fun, choreographed dance following their traditional first dance. The groom hand-made the peach jam favors each guest took home at the end of the night.
