The first time I was ever introduced to Three Nails Photography was when I wrote about Hunter Leone’s very own wedding that he helped shoot! To this day I don’t know how he pulled that one off but he did and it was beyond beautiful with 102 comments to prove it. That was just the beginning of a long line of beauty he’s sent our way. All shot to perfection and all with a flair for vintage like this Ohio number planned by Lisa Sullivan Events along with florals by MadisonHouse Designs. See it all right here.
From the Bride… Our wedding day seemed to pass by like a dream! Our wedding party started off getting ready at the Polaris Hilton a few miles away from the farm. I opted to let my girls pick their own light beige dresses, and the groomsmen wore classy tan suits. We had no idea what the girls’ dresses would all look like together until the day of the wedding, and it was sooo fun to see how they all coordinated together so beautifully! Our wedding party was (ridiculously) huge, and we did get a little teasing about it at first. But then we got to share how incredibly blessed we are to have such amazing, loving friends. The fun part of having a wedding is you can break all the “rules” and make it representative and true to who you and your groom are.
Ben and I decided to do a first look before the wedding, so our wedding party headed over to the farm on a trolley. I nervously rode over with my mom and met Ben on a bridge at a corner of the farm. As we met each other, our wedding planner (Lisa Sullivan) blared our wedding CD throughout the farm. (We gave our guests this CD as a favor.) It truly felt like a dream, and Ben and I both felt a huge sense of relief and joy upon seeing each other. We knew we wanted our wedding outside on a farm with a barn of some sort, and Freeman’s Farm in Galena, Ohio provided the PERFECT setting. The farm accommodated our large number of guests, and the Freeman family was so amazing to work with. It really took my breath away to see the farm set up with all of our wedding details. Our florists and event designers (Madison House Designs) did an outstanding job! I am so proud of their hard work and attention to the tiniest of details. They are truly phenomenal! Our reception was a party to say the least. We had a fantastic DJ from Rock the House who pretty much ran the show and got everyone super pumped up. We incorporated a few of our own quirky ideas, such as a square dance, a slushie machine (a crowd favorite), and a photo booth. We did not want the night to end! In fact, we asked the DJ to push back our departure time. We left the farm with our friends and families waving sparklers to the sounds of “Born to Run” by Bruce Springstein.
Our favorite part of our wedding was the opportunity it provided for us to show our friends and family how much we cared about them. We were able to take the focus off of ourselves and love our guests throughout the night. For Ben and me, the event symbolized something greater than ourselves: our faith in Jesus, a God who loves us unconditionally. Take the opportunity to love your guests and to communicate what is important to you and your groom. Stick with your vision for the day; a lot of people will be resistant to your ideas because they can’t envision them panning out. As you plan, make it your own and keep reminding yourself what the day is about. Lastly, laugh a lot!
