Orange County Wedding from Closer to Love Photography

SMP California, we have such a treat lined up for you this week! A week filled with the prettiest parties in Orange County thanks to our friends at Surf & Sand Resort.  That’s right, sun-filled weddings on some of California’s most gorgeous coastline. We can barely contain ourselves we are so excited, so let’s get this pretty party started, shall we?

Once upon a time, I actually lived in Newport Beach, and I can tell you lovelies that haven’t had a chance to visit that seaside stunner of a town – it’s gorgeous. Every vista could be a postcard, and honestly – every image of this Newport Beach beauty by Closer to Love Photography is postcard worthy too. I can’t decide what’s the prettiest part of this party, and that ultimately leads to a gallery so gorgeous you want to kiss it. See it all here!

From the Bride… Brian and I had the same vision for our wedding. We wanted our wedding to be modern and stylish but also have a romantic feel. We decided to have a traditional Filipino-Catholic wedding ceremony at Our Lady Queen of Angels in Newport Beach, so we wanted to have a non-traditional reception. We wanted to take advantage of the amazing weather here in Southern California and decided on an outdoor reception. We thought it would be a great experience, especially for my friends and family coming in from Vancouver, Canada. Finding a venue started off a bit discouraging, but when we walked into Bowers Museum we knew that it was the perfect location for our modern, romantic, outdoor wedding.

We drew inspiration from everything — from fashion blogs and the restaurants we ate at to storefront displays. I dived into the wedding blogs and knew I had a lot to learn. We decided on a very neutral color palette. Our main colors were navy and gray but we incorporated a pop of coral in our designs and flowers. I wanted to add my personal touch throughout the wedding, so I took on as many projects as I could. I designed the paper goods for the table settings and giveaways with my Silhouette Machine (such a life saver). My cousin and I put together the glass globes that hung from the string lights at the reception and we spray-painted all the vases for my centerpieces. Fortunately, I have access to many creative resources. Brian is an interactive designer and designed our wedding website, and his brother made our awesome Save-the-Date video.

Our wedding day was amazing! It was so hard to imagine how everything would come together during the planning process but I couldn’t have been happier with the way everything turned out. Our main goal was to make sure everyone had fun and I think we did a great job accomplishing that. We were surrounded by our favorite people in the whole world on the happiest day of our lives, and we are so thankful for their endless love and support. There is nothing I would have changed.
