A wedding at Frankies 457 in Brooklyn is always a wedding we can get behind. Good food, easy elegance, wildly gorgeous florals by Poppies & Posies. It’s like a dinner party with friends and family only there happens to be a few “I Do’s” and a kiss the Bride folded into the mix. Thanks to Raquel Reis, we have a glimpse into just such a fete rounded off with some delicious looking sweets by Nine Cakes. See it all unfold right here.
From the Bride… Jose and I met, by chance, at a local bar neither of us had visited before in beautiful Forest Hills, New York. We describe our first meeting as “love at first sight.” Jose proposed at our family’s Chanukah party, in the middle of gift-giving, right in my grandmother’s living room. We are so lucky to have shared that very special moment with our family. We first met in June, so we decided we should marry in June as well. We had one year to plan our wedding. We envisioned a laid-back, intimate garden wedding with our closest friends and family. Frankies 457 offered a beautiful outdoor setting with a garden and stable. Poppies & Posies designed all of our event and floral details, right down to the blush striped paper straws. Guests were greeted into the garden area by a refreshment stand designed by Poppies & Posies. The refreshment stand displayed two large glass drink dispensers which held our signature cocktail, a “grapefruit ginger basil spritzer” and water with freshly-sliced lemons. Glass perfume bottles, vintage-inspired jars, floral arrangements and blush striped paper straws with customized tags of “Minna & Jose” were also displayed upon the stand.
Our ceremony took place in the garden area under a handheld chuppah, which was constructed of white linen cloth and birch branches (and designed by Poppies & Posies). We walked down the aisle to “Canon in D” played by two talented Flamenco guitarists, Jason and Elysa Hochman. Our officiant, Catherine Bordeau, customized a lovely ceremony for us. A very special moment was had upon hearing the speeches our mothers crafted and delivered during the ceremony. Cocktail hour was in the stable, where guests sampled an assortment of crostini, toasted with Prosecco and enjoyed live flameno music. The stable displayed a dessert bar constructed by Poppies and Posies. The dessert bar displayed three DELICIOUS cakes and an assortment of mini cupcakes, all baked by Nine Cakes. The dessert bar displayed our cakes on glass cake stands upon wooden crates. Guests located their table number by referencing a fun-inspired chalkboard which displayed each guest’s name and table number (designed by Poppies & Posies). A scrumptious dinner was served in the garden area under tents. The tables featured sea foam green table runners, customized menus on kraft paper, place cards with each guest’s name, wooden table numbers, beautifully-constructed flower arrangements and candles in votive holders (all event details were designed by Poppies & Posies).
