Backyard Laguna Beach Wedding from Chenin Boutwell Photography

There aren’t many spots that boast near perfect year round weather for outdoor affairs. So, to be planning a wedding in Southern California is a pretty lucky bonus. It also isn’t very often that family members have a gorgeous backyard in said spot ripe for the taking. So consider this couple one of the luckiest on the planet. They held a glamorous garden wedding at a family member’s backyard in Laguna Beach and it’s as pretty as they come. Captured by Chenin Boutwell Photography, with design and planning by the Bride along with In the Now Weddings & Events  and florals by Honey and Poppies folded into each and every garden-filled corner, it all came together for a glowing example of garden nuptials. From the Bride… My husband and I knew we wanted an intimate garden wedding and choosing a beautiful location was one of our top priorities. When my Aunt Cathy offered for us to use her backyard in Laguna Beach, we couldn’t say no. We were so blessed to have our wedding in the home of a close family member. My goal was to minimize the décor and let the venue speak for itself. I put a personal touch on our wedding by creating some of the details: the table numbers, signage, favor bags and escort cards. My mom made the ring-bearer pillow and my friend, Lauren, designed the cover of our programs. With the help of each and every one our amazing vendors (and my incredible aunt), we were able to pull it off!

On the big day, my mother, future mother-in-law and bridesmaids surprised me with a champagne toast while we were getting ready. Hearing their kind words and funny stories was a wonderful way to relax before the ceremony. The day itself was everything we’d hoped for: great food, lots of fun and the company of our closest friends and family. My advice to brides is to take 10 or 15 minutes with your new husband after the ceremony. My husband and I had extra time after our photo session and were given the option to join the cocktail hour. We decided to retreat inside the house and share a beer. That one-on-one time forced us to be in the moment and allowed us to share our excitement with each other.
