Without a doubt, SmogShoppe is one of my favorite California wedding spots. With its eclectic vibe, you really don't have to do much in the way of decor (which is pretty amazing, if you ask me!). The super-creative bride behind the celebration (who also happens to own Design the Details) added a few personal elements, like vintage china + lace touches, and kept the rest simple. See the rest through the lens of Jessica Holley Photography in the full gallery!

From the Bride, Owner of Design the Details... We did something a little different and had a private ceremony, just Hayden and me, at the Santa Barbara Courthouse on June 1, then our wedding reception was held on June 15, 2012 at Smog Shoppe in Culver City, LA. It was a DIY wedding across the board. Our main goal was to have a fun celebration that was simple but elegant! When we came across the Smog Shoppe, we knew it was our venue. The site already had a lot of flair, so we knew adding to it was going to be fun. My thought was to do Spanish/European inspired accents and make lace a main element. My other important factor in this process was the dishes. I wanted vintage china everywhere, and I knew this would be a challenge, so I started as soon as I was able. From thrift shops, to Craigslist and my own family's dishes, we collected enough for a party of 200!
From there, the ideas started to snowball. The invitations were covered in lace and I drew a dahlia on the front to represent what was to come. We tied napkins with the same lace from the tables, made olive oil favors infused with chiles and wrapped with lace and put together vintage clear and light green vases filled with burgundy dahlias and accents of large peach/pink dahlias. We also added Our Lady of Guadalupe candles all around the venue. To add a personal touch, we had pictures of all our grandparents present and backed with the same lace from the tables and invitations.
