I’ve always had a love for books, complete with a true fascination for libraries and all things Dewey Decimal system. So when I saw this wedding from Hello Love Photography, I just knew that all the pretty pictures would delight my book-loving heart. Filled to the brim with the sweetest accents of books and literary love, this wedding has everything you could want with the perfect touch of old school and tradition at the Harvard Faculty Club. From the Bride… My husband and I are big book nerds — he even proposed in his parents’ library in Minnesota using a hollowed-out book to hold the ring — so it was only natural that we would gravitate toward a literary-themed wedding. We had the wedding ceremony at the beautiful St. Paul Catholic Church in Harvard Square, and our reception venue was the Harvard Faculty Club, which fit in perfectly with the overall look and feel of the wedding reception. If I could sum up the theme wedding, it would be “quirky vintage.” Because both our venues were already pretty ornate, we went with a neutral color palette (gray, beige, blush pink) and just added DIY touches to everything. I made paper garlands out of old book pages and escort cards out of library card pockets, and our guest book was a “time capsule” where we asked our guests to write predictions on cards about where we’d be in five, 10 and 15 years. Our centerpieces were made of cool, old books from Goodwill, our menus were clipped to Penguin book-inspired post cards, and my mother-in-law made the cake topper. And, of course, we had a photo booth! Our guests ended up wearing most of the props all night. All brides say the day goes by SO fast, and I have to say, they don’t lie. I look back on that day through the gorgeous photos from my awesome photographer, and still think, “Whoa, was that a dream?”
