From the Bride… I married my best friend, Chris Fenner, a month ago in Dahlonega, Georgia, at White Oaks Barn. Our photographers were Ben and Colleen of Pure Gold Photography. I got each of the bridesmaids a kimono as their gift to wear while we were getting ready day-of! My dress was a champagne ballgown, and my birdcage veil was homemade. Each bridesmaid got to pick out their own dress in a color palette ranging from mint to teal. During our first look, Chris gave me a very special necklace made from the diamonds from my mother’s engagement ring The sweet little junior bridesmaid is Chris’s youngest sister. My dad married us, and my mom was my matron of honor! Chris’s dad was his best man as well. I painted a re-creation of the mountain and house from the movie UP! (one of our faves!), and the guests put their thumbprints on it like balloons. The reception was in the barn and the ceremony was outside on the hills. I made each centerpiece by hand by vintage postcards with cute sayings (example: “We’re having and H— of a time!” There really were dashes after the “H!”) and hand-dipping each bottle. I got the milk glass vases at thrift stores, along with the succulent pots. Friends volunteered to make cupcakes instead of us having a cake. My grandmother, Julia, my namesake, made our little cake to cut: red velvet from scratch. I made the cake plates from vintage plates from Goodwill and candlesticks! I made hearts on the cupcakes and the big “F” too! In the reception shots, you’ll see the ribbon chair backs I made for Chris’s and my chairs. I painted small mirrors black and wrote “bride” and “groom” on them with chalk! I got “FOREVER” engraved into his ring because that’s what he texted me the night we got engaged. :)
