Confession time: I’m a wee bit obsessed with all things mint. Yes, I do know that Tangerine was the Pantone princess this year – but mint has been standing front and center in my hue radar all the while. This fun fête by Oldani Photography is the perfect example of why that cool color makes me swoon. And when that pretty palette mixes with a new Mr. & Mrs. who just happen to be graphic design gurus, the result is a full gallery I couldn’t love more!
From the Bride… Our wedding was held on May 26, 2012 in St. Charles, Missouri, which is about 30 minutes outside of St. Louis. My husband and I are both graphic designers, so nearly everything was made by us. We decided for our wedding we wanted a honeycomb tissue theme running throughout, as well as a casual and fun atmosphere. The colors were mainly mint green, white, and light aqua with a few touches of gray. The invitations were designed and printed by us and featured a banner motif that was carried through other reception details such as the cake topper and “Just Married” banner that hung above the head table. My aunt made all five cakes and my mother cooked most of the food. There were homemade cookies with “Sweet!” stickers for guests to take home and bags of snacks with “Yum” stickers to eat during cocktail hour. Tissue fringe garland was hung over the center of the dance floor to create a sort of paper chandelier, and leaf garlands and honeycomb fans adorned the head table. The flowers were created by me using crepe paper folds in white and mint. The same crepe paper folds were also used as runners on the table to add color. Because it was so hot that day (around 98 degrees), it was nice having the reception space doused in such a cooling color palette. Overall, it was wonderful designing and creating everything for my wedding. The photographers did an amazing job capturing the day.
