Cape Cod Wedding from James Johnson Photography

You know a wedding is going to be off the charts fun when the bride and groom met performing in an off-Broadway show. They pulled out all the stops for their big day and we’re certain that this was one heck of a party judging by the oh-so-fab images from James Johnson Photography. Everyone pitched in to ensure that their favorite couple had a day they won’t soon forget. See all the pretty (and silly!) moments right here in the full gallery!

From the Bride… We are a Brooklyn couple who met performing in an off-off broadway show. We wanted our wedding to reflect the vibrant, quirky, playful silliness that has defined our relationship from the very first rehearsal. I wasn’t sure what I wanted beyond lots of friends, family, feathers, glitter and color – oh, and all without breaking the bank of course!

The Coonamessett Inn was the perfect backdrop to our dream day. The wedding program was done like a Broadway playbill, a theme we carried over into our tables. Each table had a theme relating to us or our family, with embarrassing photos and kitschy knick-knacks. A playbill with the seating arrangements was even framed in an amazing silver frame I found laying on the streets of Brooklyn. We dipped into our uber-creative family and friends to double as “vendors.” James Johnson did our beautiful photography, and Ryan McLaughlin totally got our Motown vibe as he DJ’d our favorite jams – even as my dad and I boogied down the aisle to Kool and the Gang’s “Celebration” and rocked out a tango for our father/daughter dance. Jane Kelley, another family friend, officiated our self-penned vows.

Jeff at Verde Floral Design totally understood my Vegas-showgirl-meets-classy-1940’s-glamour vision. Our bouquets were bursting with orchids, feathers, glitter and David Austin roses. Half of the tables sported Verde’s bouquets, and the other half  were hurricane’s from the Christmas Tree Shop and candles we decoupaged with glitter. The Christmas Tree Shop also supplied the apothecary-style vases we filled with my favorite guilty pleasure: CANDY! A bedazzled clothesline hung above our sweetheart table with even more incriminating photos from the years before we met each other. Overall, it was an unforgettable day full of breakout “performances,” love, silliness and family.
