Dana-Powers Barn Wedding from Ken Kienow

You’ll be hard pressed to find another blogger more in love with the Dana-Powers Barn. I did get married there so I may be a wee bit partial to that gorgeous plot of land but one look at this shindig and I believe you all will be just as enamored. The light streaming in through the old wood siding, the citrus fields a plenty, the bright florals by Flowers To You By Jessica; it’s stunning. Not to mention the loads of pink which does a rustic barn oh so good. And when Ken Kienow is behind the lens, we just know we’re in for a mighty fine gallery. Peruse your heart out right here!

From the Bride… When we started planning about our big day, my groom and I kept it simple — we just wanted a fun party with our most favorite people. With Trevor’s family near Los Angeles and mine in northern California, we met in the middle for a tour of central coast barns to find our venue. Deciding on Dana-Powers House and Barn was the essential piece to determining the look and feel of the wedding, and from there, we were able to nail down the details of elegant (and colorful) rustic comfort.

We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us, and we both have been known to enjoy a weekend of DIY projects, thus many details of the wedding were handmade, crafted and collected by us with the help of our friends and family. From the screen-printed hankies for our save-the-dates and sewing of napkins to the guest bags and endless label scraping of jars/bottles for flower arrangements, the whole wedding weekend was definitely a labor of love! For the remaining elements, we managed to find the most amazing vendors: Ken captured every moment flawlessly while keeping the atmosphere calm and fun, Judi at Dana Powers put us at ease throughout the planning process, U+U Designs produced the perfect invitations, Jessica executed my floral ideas exactly (filling over 200 jars!), and our guests are still raving about Trumpet Vine’s cheese sampler and the milkshake-and-fries send-off snacks! And obviously, with my brother at the DJ table, the dance floor was rocking from start to finish!

Looking back on our big day, we could not have been happier that it all came together just as we had imagined (and pinned). The sun shined all day, and a full moon rose behind the barn that evening. It was truly magical to have all the people we care most about in one place to celebrate. It really was the best day ever!
