From the Bride… John and I have always wanted to get married on the beach in the sand, surrounded by the sound of crashing waves and our close friends and family. As the sun started to peek over the water and the breeze was at its calmest on that early May morning, it was finally time to exchange our vows. It was about 7:30 a.m. on the northern most tip of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and the wooden boardwalk out to the beach stretched about 100 yards to a knoll of sand where the bamboo arbor draped in sheer, white crinkle fabric that billowed slightly with the wind. A bouquet of mangos, cantaloupes and ornamental grass anchored the arbor. Family and friends gathered on either side of the aisle awaiting the bride’s arrival. My mermaid-style, lace gown was adorned with a champagne, silk organza flower with a crystal center and satin sash. My bouquet was a mix of peach and champagne-colored flowers pulled together with green grasses. The peach and corals went perfectly with the turquoise accents in the bridesmaids’ jewelry. Our daughter Mackenzie’s turquoise organza dress made her look likes a tiny fairy princess frolicking in the sand. Everything about the sunrise and the morning was perfect. The wind was perfect, the waves were perfect, and the ceremony was perfect. After the ceremony, all of the guests drove about five minutes onto the mainland to Nosh for brunch and a slice of peach, ruffled dreamsicle cake.
