Why didn’t I get married at the Chicago History Museum? I truly cannot think of a more picture perfect backdrop for this flawless fete by Soirée Weddings & Events. The florals by Natural Beauties are the bomb-diggity and the stylish bridal party makes my heart skip a beat. Let’s talk about the tone of these photo’s by Orange 2 Photography. From Tiffany Munster of Soirée Weddings & Events… Sami and Mike knew that they wanted to get married in Chicago, although they both lived in Ohio when they got engaged. So it was a bit of a challenge when they began to plan an out-of-town wedding. Mike had been to a wedding at the Chicago History Museum and thought it would be the perfect backdrop for their Chicago wedding. Sami saw the museum and instantly agreed. After they decided on the venue, they hired Soirée to help them fill in all the other details. Everything came together beautifully … even the weather. The overcast sky shed no rain and made for a lovely, yet comfortably cool wedding day!
Sami wore a classic, lace, sheath-style gown with gold threaded accents. The ivory, lace, Stuart Weitzman peep-toes accented her gown perfectly! The bridesmaids chose their own blush-colored gowns. The bride carried a lush bouquet of dahlias, sweet peas, roses and veronica, which complemented the vintage style of the dress. They wanted the ceremony and bridal party to be minimal, with more focus on the reception. The Chicago History Museum laid out the perfect canvas. They had a simple ceremony, followed by cocktails out on the terrace and then the guests moved into the Chicago Room for dinner and dancing.
The décor was soft, romantic and classic with some rustic elements. The color palette consisted of taupe, champagne, gold, blush pink, lavender and pistachio. We used summery blooms such as garden roses, chrysanthemums, dahlias and hydrangea, as well as adding earthy accents of seeded eucalyptus and branches for the escort card table. Guests found their way to their seats by way of custom-made table names and escort cards that displayed famous Chicago landmarks, such as Marshall Fields, Water Tower and Harold Washington Library. The bride and groom danced their first dance to Sade’s “By Your Side” followed by a touching father daughter dance to Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely.” After noshing on vanilla, chocolate and red velvet cupcakes by Sweet Mandy B’s, the guests packed the dance floor and jammed to tunes provided by Toast and Jam DJs. The photo booth was also a big hit. In lieu of a guest book, guests glued their photo strips into a scrapbook with a personalized message to the bride and groom. They could also take a strip home with them to remember the night. The day came and went so quickly. After almost two years of planning, the perfect wedding came to an end. The couple glowed with joy, laughter and happiness as they hugged their guests goodbye. These were two people who just couldn’t wait to be married, and that was all that mattered to them. After the wedding, Sami and Mike moved out to Los Angeles to begin their lives together. We wish them all the happiness in the world!
