Inspired by a love of travel and their historic venue, the Boston Public Library, this couple created a wedding day filled with warm and thoughtful touches. Pink was prominent in everything from the bride's amazing Christian Louboutins to the sweet florals by Winston Flowers. The personalized + travel-inspired details (think map guestbook and luggage tag place cards) were perfectly unique and everything was captured beautifully by photog Style Art Life. From the Bride... Reese proposed on July 4th on the Charles River in Boston, just after a spectacular fireworks show. He gave me his great-grandmother's platinum ring, which is circa 1920s art deco with intricate forget-me-not filigree on the sides. The ring was passed down to Reese by his grandfather after his grandmother passed away.
A year later, Reese and I married on the weekend of July 4th in Boston. It was "neutral" territory since I'm originally from Oklahoma, Reese is from Pennsylvania, and Boston would be our new home after we got married. We had a long-distance relationship (between NYC and Boston) for three years. International travel and exploring other cultures in the world is a huge part of who we are. A love for travel is what initially connected us. We’ve been to over 70 countries combined and 15 together, so it only made sense to incorporate travel into our wedding scheme. We sent "air mail" save-the-date postcards with photos of us from different places around the world. The wedding invitations were passports with Reese’s family crest on the front, and the response cards were boarding passes. At the reception, guests were greeted by a map and color-coded thumb tacks to show us where they have traveled and would like to travel. We also asked guests to share travel and marriage advice with us on vintage postcards, which were then placed in a vintage suitcase. Guests were directed to their tables by luggage tags. The table names were made up of ceramic postcards, named after places we had been together and accompanied with a framed picture of us in that corresponding country. Instead of the classic floral centerpieces, we had a cage globes filled with pink garden roses as the table focal point. Guests were also invited to take photos in the "around the world" photo booth with vintage travel posters and props from around the world (such as Russian hats, Viking horns and Japanese umbrellas). As a keepsake, guests got to take home a glass globe wine cork.
With it being July 4th weekend, it was only apropos that we ended the evening with a sparkler send off on the front steps of the Boston Library.
