Going out for dinner at awesome restaurants is probably one of my all time favorite things to do. In fact, it's probably a too-close-to-call tie between dining out and wonderful weddings, which is why this wedding at The Italian has me beyond excited! This couple opted for a garden ceremony under a gorgeous oak tree and then walked through the city streets with their guests (I love this!) to the restaurant. I love the modern vibe of their reception, and it's clear this affair was a hit judging by the gorgeous smile spread across the bride's face! From the Bride... David and I met at law school eight years ago, and that day I went home and told my mother that I had met the man I was going to marry. We had a modern, city wedding, and we chose a classic, all-white theme. This pulled the different elements of the day together into a single, cohesive style. We love the romance of garden weddings, so we held our ceremony beneath an historic oak tree in Melbourne’s Parliament House Gardens. To create our ceremony site, we hung a wreath of white hydrangeas from the tree, tied white blooms to the chairs lining the aisle and scattered the aisle with rose petals. David’s family is Jewish and my family is Italian, so we incorporated traditions from both cultures into the celebrations. During the ceremony, David’s sister read from the Song of Songs, and after we were pronounced man and wife, David stepped on the wedding glass. After the ceremony we walked through the city streets with our guests to The Italian for the reception. The Italian is a very modern restaurant spread over several levels, and it has its own courtyard and dance floor. During cocktail hour in the courtyard, we served an Italian prosecco, and thus enlivened, we all danced the Horah before sitting down to dinner. We wanted the reception to feel like one big dinner party, so guests sat at two long tables.
