I’ve been waiting for a wedding like this one, for oh…about a hundred years. Because to me, this is exactly what style looks like. Exactly what it means to put your own personality stamp on your special day. The bride – who crafted all of those crazy beautiful reception flowers herself – and groom looked only to their own loves to dictate their approach to wedding day style…and I couldn’t be a happier blogger because of it. The pair chose the crazy talented Anna Kuperberg to photograph and Kathleen Deery’s beloved San Francisco haven to provide the perfect backdrop. This, my friends, is wedding gold so kick back, grab some bubbly and feast your eyes on wedding perfection. Oh and there is SO much more right here.
From Erica of Erica Rose Design (The Bride)… I met my handsome husband shopping for flowers at the San Francisco Flower Market. He’s been a wholesaler there for about 20 years, and when I started buying flowers from him a few years ago for my business, I guess you could say it was just magic between us. We fell in love in the wee hours of the morning with buckets and buckets of vibrant blooms around us — it was really the most romantic and wonderful thing I could have ever imagined!
And I have to say that planning our wedding was also pure magic. Since we are both part of the floral and wedding industry here in San Francisco, we had a huge community of dear industry friends who were so endlessly excited for us. It was so much fun! Our friend Kathleen Deery offered to host our ceremony in her beautiful south of market studio. It truly felt like a home away from home, and it felt just perfect. José is from Mexico and having the mariachi there was a show-stopper for him, so we chose Bluxome Street Winery, just a few blocks away, for our reception, so we could do a traditional processional, led by “Mariachi Colima,” from the ceremony to the reception. Those 20 minutes of walking with all our friends and family in tow were pure elation! It was really important for me to have both of our family traditions acknowledged so we had a mostly Jewish ceremony under a chuppah with a few Catholic rituals and lots of Spanish weaved in. Our friend Riana did our beautiful invitation suite. I’ll never forget us trying to get our bilingual program together — that was a feat!
Our reception was really the best party ever! Everyone was in high spirits, and both my family and Jose’s family had the time of their lives! His sisters all wore pink, which added such a festive flair to the party. We had awesome vendors (who were also all my favorite people and friends) and had put in the planning hours and site visits, so everything really worked perfectly. Amazing wine, food, music, desserts. We were so lucky to get married during peony season, so José made sure we had the most perfect coral peonies, and my lovely team of flower fairies put it all together. My favorite part of weddings is always the toasts, and it was in my own wedding too. Although the hora might have topped it, I’ll never forget all the bright, shiny faces of our friends and family dancing around us and celebrating us. We’re both endlessly grateful for such a special wedding day.
