Washington Wedding at DeLille Cellars from Dana Pleasant Photography
Two things I can NEVER get enough of: winery weddings and Washington state. So, when those two things combine for an all-out pretty fest, my joyful meter goes off the charts. Lucky for me (and you!), this stunning DeLille Cellars soiree happens to feature BOTH - and the romantic park-like setting, brilliant images by Dana Pleasant Photography and sweet, sweet details from Simply Wed are about to rock your world. From the Bride... Frank and I met on Valentine’s Day in Vienna. He proposed two years later in a gondola in Venice. There’s always been something about our love story that seemed like a fairytale to both of us, and we knew from the beginning we wanted our wedding to reflect this. We also knew that we wanted something fairly intimate. With our small Dutch delegation flying into Seattle, the last thing we wanted was to overwhelm them with something that felt over-the-top or unnatural. The venue we ended up going with, DeLille Cellars in the heart of Woodinville wine country, was the perfect place to accommodate our 80 or so guests.
The actual planning of the wedding was a bit complicated because we live in Holland. It was very important to us that when we visited Seattle the few times before the wedding that we met with vendors who we not only trusted, but who really understood our vision for the day. Kirstie Warren of Simply Wed, who did the design and flowers, got exactly what we were going for right out of the gate: classic yet whimsical, elegant but rustic. We chose to go with colorful centerpieces with an array of peonies, dahlias, mums, sweet peas, astilbe and other spring blooms, and added personal accents such as a display of old family wedding photos, a puzzle piece "wishing tree" and a favors display with our favorite coffee bean roast. While we were able to make and assemble some last minute DIY elements during the week we were in town before the wedding, we couldn’t have done any of it without help from my parents back in Seattle. We are so grateful for all our friends and family who lent a hand in our absence, as well as for those who flew from across the world to be there on our special day.
The day itself was far better than either of us could have imagined. After a very rainy spring (even by Seattle standards), the sun decided to pop out midday and seemed only to get brighter as the evening went on. Everything ran so seamlessly; it felt like a dream we were just floating through. We exchanged vows out on a little island across the pond from our guests with one of our closet friends acting as officiant. All of the little details that Kirstie came up with – such as mercury glass votives with candles and small, vintage glass vases with single blooms on each stair step as the guests walked in – were absolutely perfect. Between dinner and dancing, we were able to sneak out with our fabulous photographers, Dana Pleasant and Saskia Mizushima, for a few sunset pictures, which gave us some quality alone time (in front of the camera) for us to step back and soak everything in together. It really was the fairytale wedding we had hoped for.
