Spring Inspired Photo Shoot + DIY Greenery Garland by CMOStr Photography

I’ve been known to gush about color palettes that pop a time or two, but sometimes it’s the natural hues that sweep me off my feet. Actual, they always do – and when those hues are wrapped up in a whimsical woodland photo shoot captured to perfection by CMOStr Photography – I’m all theirs. Hook, line and natural hue-loving sinker. Want to create a similar look for your next forest-inspired fête? Well, there’s a fab garland DIY waiting for you after all the prettiness. Now that’s the way to sweep this girl off her feet. See it all here!

From Samantha of CMOStr PhotographyFor this shoot, we tried to keep things simple and classic with the lightheartedness of a garden party. In my opinion, nature is the most beautiful backdrop and is accessible to pretty much everyone. Colors were kept light and natural with the tablescape revolving around white, soft greens and browns. We wanted everything to appear stylish but effortless and to have a timeless feel. Simply put, the elements of this shoot should be accessible to everyone, and variations can be made for any location or budget.

DIY Green Garland

  1. Use three to four assorted varieties of greens, choosing different shapes and textures. We used umbrella fern, passion vine and a type of variegated japonica leaf.
  2. Cut the greens into 4-5″ pieces.
  3. Begin layering the different greens one top of the other, holding the bottom of stems together.
  4. Using green floral stem tape tightly wrap a 4” piece around the bottom of the stems.
  5. While still holding the first bunch start layering a second group on top. The second bunch should be layered about 2” down from the top of first group.
  6. Tape the second bunch to the first bunch and continue this process of layering and taping until the garland is as long as you need.
